The mission of the 图书馆 Services department is to support the academic and personal enrichment of students, 教师, and staff with leading-edge service, information resources, facilities, and systems.
The library manages the college’s research collection of electronic, 打印, and audio-visual resources. In addition to more than 5,000 in-house 打印 and media items, the library offers 24/7 on-and off-campus access to general and discipline-specific online resources containing abstracts, full-text articles, and e-books. The library collection includes a wide variety of computer and audio-visual equipment available for short-term loans, such as laptop computers, 平板电脑, digital video camcorders, microphones, and video-data projectors. Any student with a valid Thomas College ID card may borrow materials from the library.
The library contains computer workstations, a reference and general circulating collection and a Service Desk. The library offers a variety of sitting areas and study rooms. The library provides support to the Student Print Center and all campus computer labs. Students are encouraged to contact our professional library staff for group or individual assistance in the use of online and 打印 resources, computer applications, and general research techniques. Reciprocal borrowing agreements exist between Thomas College and a number of Waterville-area libraries. Holders of a valid Thomas College photo ID card may borrow items from Waterville-area libraries on a walk-in basis. Students may also request interlibrary loan items that are available through the 密涅瓦 consortium as well as members of the Maine INFONET consortium via the Thomas College 图书馆 online catalog. Traditional interlibrary loan is available for borrowing materials from libraries outside of the state of Maine.
A short distance from the Thomas College campus, the city of Augusta is home to the Maine State 图书馆, the Maine Law & Legislative 图书馆, the University of Maine at Augusta 图书馆, and the Lithgow Public 图书馆. Anyone may enter and use materials on site at these libraries; Maine residents may borrow material from the Maine State 图书馆 and the Maine Law & Legislative 图书馆 at no charge.
Thomas College is part of the Maine Reciprocal Borrowing Program. The Maine Reciprocal Borrowing Program allows anyone with a valid library card from one of the participating libraries to visit any of the other participating libraries and check out materials in person.
